Field Notes

Raw insights from a marketing practitioner's notebook

Hey there!

If you're reading this, I must have caught your eyes, ears, or wiggled my way into your brain. I'm not sorry

My name is Marcel Ribeiro and I've been a creative my entire life.

I've worn many hats through the years: graphic designer, photographer, music producer (hitting $4K/month in beat sales), audio engineer, and performing artist with a sold-out show.

But right now, you might be wondering...

"What Does Any of That Have to do With Marketing?".

Well, my friend, while chasing various creative endeavors, marketing was always in my back pocket. It's what I studied, it's what I do for work, and it's the foundation of my own business . Marketing, marketing, marketing.

Each creative role taught me something crucial:

  • How to capture attention
  • How to build an audience
  • How to turn passion into profit.

But that's not to say that marketing is entirely creative.

As you may know, it's more of a science.

So what's this newsletter all about?

In my front pocket, I keep something that I like to call "My Field Notes".

Inside this petite leather moleskin notebook I write whatever comes to mind in the context of marketing. It may be a recent insight that I've found from studying one of the greats (lately I'm binging Eugene Schwartz), a creative solution to a burning problem, or, it may even be a wild idea that I'm not sure will work (but I'll share with you anyways).

Regardless, the goal is to open up and share stories of where I find my success and the strategies I use to get there.

You can expect to see:

  • Stories from the field and the lessons you can apply to yourself.
  • The burning problems my clients experience and the solutions I've crafted.
  • Study notes distilled into stories along with strategies to burn ideas into your mind.

And I know what you're thinking:

"My email is crowded with countless newsletters that I don't read, and very few that I actually do."

I know because I have the same problem.

But the few that I do read on a regular basis are not only enjoyable and entertaining, but also educational.

And that's the mark I'm going to hit.

With that being said...

Here's What you can expect

  • An email from me every Monday morning at 7am.
  • Completely self written, no AI regurgitations.
  • My undying love & affection.

If that sounds good with you, put your best email into the field below and lets get you on the list!
